Course description
The Cohesity NetBackup 11.0: Administration course is a 5-day technical class focused on configuring, managing, and protecting environments using NetBackup. 
 
Overview: 
Administering a backup environment for a company or an organization is a complicated undertaking performed by a team of administrators, operators, and technical engineers, each with specific tasks. This course is intended for system or network administrators, system engineers, technical support personnel, and system integration and development staff who are responsible for configuring devices and storage units, configuring and managing media, creating and configuring backup policies, performing backups and restores, and protecting the backup data and configuration.
 
Course prerequisites:
Students attending this course should be familiar with the following: 

• UNIX/Linux or Windows system administration
• Data protection concepts and terminology
• Storage concepts
• Virtualization and cloud technologies
• Basic networking and system security awareness 

Course Objectives: 

• Describe the functions of the Primary server, Media servers, and clients in a NetBackup environment
• Explain how NetBackup performs backup and restore operations
• Demonstrate using the NetBackup Administration Console, Web User Interface, and NetBackup IT Analytics for daily operations
• Configure and manage NetBackup security certificates to ensure secure operations
• Set up and monitor BasicDisk and AdvancedDisk storage units and storage unit groups
• Develop file system backup policies and schedules to meet organizational requirements
• Perform manual and user-directed backups and restores using various NetBackup interfaces
• Provision storage and configure Media Server DeduplicationPool (MSDP) for optimized storage usage
• Implement backup and recovery for virtual environments such as VMware
• Configure Storage Lifecycle Policies (SLPs) and initiate jobs that utilize SLPs
• Protect and manage the NetBackup catalog to ensure the recoverability of backup data
• Apply NetBackup WORM protection and performance optimization techniques
• Generate and interpret NetBackup reports for operational and compliance needs
• Initiate NetBackup upgrades using VxUpdate and identify resources for troubleshooting
